Satin and yew veneered, corpus in beech or oak, fire gilded bronze. The fine design shows the high quality of furniture-making in Vienna around 1800. The 1803 dated desk from Johann Reiman (master cabinet-maker in Vienna 1800) is the first known furniture in this manner.

The writing desk shows a remarkable garland veneer delineation along the oval corpus. The underpart consists of three drawers and two swing doors, behind them on each side you find four maple veneered drawers. In the upper part there are six drawers and four cases and a fine pierced brass trembleuse gallery frames the demilune formed desk top. Fire gild mounts..
Josef Ulrich Danhauser (1780-1929) grounded 1804 the “Etablissement for all objects of Ameublements”. In his workshop were later produced furniture, lamps etc. after his drawings for the rich Viennese customer class. The Albertina and the Geymüller-Schlössel in Vienna were furnished amongst others. Danhauser´s draft design drawings are to be found in the art collection of the MAK in Vienna. After his death, his son Josef Danhauser (1805-1845), a famous painter and graphic artist, led the company until 1838 and designed style reforming furniture for Vienna.

Mahogany veneered, rectangular, every flank on the left and right side is to fold down.

GUERIDON

GUERIDON - Italian, circa 1810
Height: 92 cm, diameter: 42 cm
Nutwood, white marble top, gilded applications. Three tapering legs with lion feets and heads uprising from a concave tripatited plinth.
Compare with an Ialian table from the Museo Napoleonico in Rome, pictued in: Enrico Colle: Il mobile Impero in Italia. Arredi e decorazioni d'interni dal 1800 al 1843, Milano 1998, p. 82, No. 19.

Comprising two fauteuils à la reine, a pair of bergères and a canapé, the oval backrest carved with plaits, padded armrests on down-curved leaf-carved supports, the bow-fronted seat carved with guilloche, raised on round tapered stop-fluted legs. Five pieces, original upholstery with petit point needle works showing hunting scenes.

WRITING CABINET - Austria or Hungary, dated: 1779
Heigth: 225 cm, width: 134 cm, depth: 72 cm
Rich marquetery, partly with geometrical inlays with eight different woods (apple, bog oak, poplar, boxwood, plum, maple, acacia and walnut) and mother-of-pearl portraits of Emperor Joseph II. (1741-1790) and (probably) his second wife Maria Josepha of Bavaria (1739-1767), serpentine fronted base with three drawers and a dummy drawer under the writing surface, inclosing a fitted interior with several small drawers hiding a secret-depository, upper part with a scrolled pediment, above two doors opening to a shelved interior with several drawers and another door.
Joseph II. wears a Hungarian magnate-dress. In the emblem: three mountain ranges in the Carpathians: Matra, Tatra and Fatra. The side bands emblematize the 4 streams: Duna, Tisza, Drava and Szava. Hungarian coat of arms: Double Sharp, beneath Crown. Above coat of arms: Hungarian Crown of St. Stephen.
Probably it was made for a Hungarian and came to Vienna many years ago.
